Government is moving to place stricter controls on tobacco use through the Tobacco Control Bill, which was debated in the House on Friday. Health and Wellness Minister Kevin Bernard says the bill is designed to protect both present and future generations from the harmful effects of tobacco use and secondhand smoke. The proposed regulations include designated smoking areas, tougher restrictions on where people can smoke, and tighter controls on tobacco advertising. The opposition fully supports the provision to prohibit the sale of Tobago products to people eighteen years old and under.”
