The City of Milwaukee Health Department manages daily water sampling and microbe analysis at the three public sites from Memorial Day to Labor Day. Staff integrate this sampling with data on recent rainfall and human-caused events in Lake Michigan or the watershed. We spoke with a man who came down to Milwaukee with his family from the Upper Peninsula. He says the kids were just about to go into the water when someone not affiliated with the city told him about the closing.
