DeepSeek is planning roughly 1 GW of computing capacity in Ulanqab, Inner Mongolia, through a combination of company-owned infrastructure and capacity leased from other operators. DeepSeek has also not disclosed the project's expected cost, financing structure, power procurement arrangements or construction partners. More than a dozen companies have projects planned in Ulanqab, based on a compilation of local government approvals cited by Bloomberg. A June 2025 Inner Mongolian government disclosure said Ulanqab had lined up 66 major computing-center projects and passed 71,000 petaflops of aggregate capacity. AI computing made up more than 90% of that total, and the city was already handling workloads for DeepSeek, ByteDance and JD.com.
