The AI Bill Just Went Up By Twenty Billion DollarsThe worry hanging over the stock was the spending, and the release did not ease it. Amazon now expects roughly $220 billion of cash capital spending in 2026, raised from a prior estimate of about $200 billion, and the company attributes the increase to the higher cost of memory. The question Friday had to settle was who is paying it, and what all that spending eventually pays back. Amazon's cloud unit supplied the answer. In the same June quarter that carried $53.1 billion of capital spending, the cloud unit earned $16.6 billion of operating income on that $42.2 billion of revenue, a margin just over 39%.
