Because I hardly think that the trade of Adley Rutschman is devastating for the Orioles’ fan base, nor do I think president of baseball operations Mike Elias should never be trusted again after trading Rutschman, the symbol of his rebuild. That was the team that taught Baltimore to love the Orioles again — not the Rutschman teams of ’22, ’23 and ’24. As Goon points out, Rutschman was really good in ’22, ’23 and the first half of ’24. Rutschman, 28, has every right in the world to think his value is what he thinks it should be. Do you really want to see what Rutschman looks like in the middle of a six-year, $105 million deal?
