Manitoba RCMP say a 25-year-old man has been charged after allegedly attacking a Mountie at the Portage District General Hospital.
RCMP says the alleged incident happened around 1:45 a.m. on Aug. 3, when a Mountie was on shift and guarding a prisoner at the hospital, when an unknown man attacked the officer.
The officer asked for backup and was able to fight to control the man with help from hospital staff.
Reports indicate that during the altercation, the man tried to take the officer’s firearm.
Additional officers responded to the hospital and were able to help take the man into custody.
