Manitoba RCMP say a man from Alberta has gone missing and is believed to have drowned while fishing in Kelsey, Manitoba — just northeast of Thompson. Mounties responded to a report around 11:30 a.m. on Aug. 3 that a man had gone missing and had not been seen since around 5:30 a.m. When officers arrived at the scene, they learned that 60-year-old James Redmond from Alberta had gone fishing from the shore of the Nelson River. A search along the shoreline near his cabin uncovered some of his gear, roughly 200 metres upstream from the dam at Kelsey Generating Station. Drones and a diving team were called in to assist with the search for Redmond, and an investigation is ongoing.
