The city of Steamboat Springs is seeking board members for the Downtown Business Improvement District, particularly property owners, business owners or electors within the district to help restore active governance and shape priorities for the downtown area, states a Tuesday news release .
A business improvement district is a defined geographic area where commercial property owners collectively fund improved services and enhancements beyond those provided by the local municipality, such as streetscape beautification, parking management, safety programs and infrastructure upgrades.
Steamboat’s district generally includes commercial properties along Lincoln Avenue, Oak Street, and Yampa Street between 12th St. and 3rd St.
Reactivating the board will allow the district to reestablish a locally controlled body centered on downtown priorities and coordinated investment.
Once the new board has been appointed, it will meet monthly at a date and time decided by its members.
