Microsoft Plans Xbox 360 Backward Compatibility Expansion To PC

Microsoft is preparing to expand its backward compatibility ecosystem by bringing Xbox 360 games to Windows PCs.
Individual rights holders will selectively choose which Xbox 360 titles to adapt, while retaining complete control over pricing structures and potential inclusion in the Xbox Game Pass subscription service.
This project builds upon an earlier effort bringing original Xbox games to PC, which is targeted for a full catalog release in October 2026.
Expanding to the Xbox 360 catalog could unlock popular franchises like Gears of War, Fable, and Forza Motorsport, though expired music licenses or commercial agreements may prevent certain games from returning.
