INDIANAPOLIS – Indiana State Police Detectives from the Indianapolis Post are investigating an apparent interstate shooting on I-70 near downtown Indianapolis. Tuesday, August 4, 2026, at approximately 10:54 a.m. Indiana State Police Dispatchers were notified of a person shot on I-70 eastbound near the 84.1 mile marker, just west of the Rural / Keystone Exit. An officer from the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department was on scene within moments of the incident. The Indianapolis Fire Department, along with IEMS, responded; the man was transported by ambulance to a local hospital in stable condition. Indiana State Police Detectives responded to the scene to investigate the incident.
