It will now go by the Vermont Highway Patrol. DMV officials say the name is all that is changing. Officers will still carry out commercial vehicle safety and traffic enforcement in partnership with state police and other law enforcement agencies. They say the new Vermont Highway Patrol name better reflects the role of the enforcement officers, who have specialized training in motor vehicle safety, traffic enforcement and crash prevention.
