WASHINGTON (WCAX) – Vermont Sen. Peter Welch opposed Todd Blanche’s attorney general nomination Tuesday as the Senate Judiciary Committee voted 12-10 along party lines to advance it.
The vote comes just over four months after President Trump fired former Attorney General Pam Bondi.
“This is a story about how a young and talented and idealistic man committed to public service, a prosecutor’s prosecutor, became a new person in service of a corrupt president.
Mr. Blanche has used his considerable talents to accommodate the corrupt goals of a corrupt president,” said Welch, D-Vermont.
Blanche’s approval will go to a full Senate vote soon.
