Zambia Police Spokesperson, Godfrey Chilabi, has disclosed that property valued at K183, 950 was reported stolen during the just ended 98th Zambia Agricultural and Commercial Show, compared to last year’s property which was valued at K339, 590.
He has described this as a significant reduction from 65 criminal cases reported last year, representing a 50.8 percent drop.
Mr Chilabi attributed the improvement to enhanced security measures put in place by the Zambia Police in partnership with other security agencies as well as increased security consciousness among show-goers.
According to Mr Chilabi, the majority of cases involved theft from persons, with 21 incidents mainly targeting mobile phones with six other thefts including laptops, groceries, and personal property.
Mr Chilabi stated that the suspects remain in custody as investigations continue, further assuring that operations are underway to recover more stolen property.
