CME August live cattle futures settled down 0.650 cent on Monday at 231.100 cents per pound.
Hog futures were mixed, with nearby contract months turning lower and back-end months turning higher on seasonal pricing patterns, market analysts said.
Sizzling temperatures in the Midwest and Plains had been curbing hog weights, which was seen as a supportive factor for futures, market analysts said.
CME August lean hog futures settled down 1.325 cents at 97.525 cents per pound.
October hogs ended 1.175 cents lower at 83.675 cents per pound.
