"Reaching 100 GammaTile® procedures is a significant achievement that reflects ECU Health's commitment to advancing brain tumor care for patients across eastern North Carolina," said Dr. Stuart Lee, chief of the division of Neurosurgery at ECU Health and medical director of The Gamma Knife Center at ECU Health Medical Center. ECU Health began offering GammaTile® therapy in 2019 and has steadily expanded its use, particularly for patients with metastatic brain tumors requiring surgery. "For patients across eastern North Carolina, this milestone means greater access to advanced cancer treatment close to home," said Jay Briley, president, ECU Health Medical Center. In early 2026, ECU Health earned GammaTile® Center of Excellence Program designation from GT Medical Technologies, recognizing the organization's clinical expertise, patient education and commitment to improving outcomes for patients with operable brain tumors.
