Ghana is seeking to attract $2.6 billion in private investment to support a $4.4 billion energy infrastructure pipeline under its National Energy Compact. The initiative aims to accelerate electricity expansion, strengthen renewable energy capacity, and increase nationwide electricity access to 99% by 2030. Private sector participation has become a key component of Ghana’s energy strategy as the country works to reduce pressure on public finances following years of financial challenges in the electricity sector. To restore investor confidence, Ghana cleared $1.47 billion in legacy debts earlier in 2026, creating a more stable environment for future private investment in electricity infrastructure. By leveraging greater private investment alongside ongoing sector reforms, Ghana aims to modernize its electricity network, expand access to reliable power, and support sustainable economic growth while reducing reliance on public borrowing.
