This comes after the RCMP issued over 1,100 tickets over the August long weekend accross the province. Mounties say between July 31 and Aug. 3, officers conducted “enhanced traffic safety enforcement across the province” and issued 1,107 tickets. On top of that, 90 drivers were removed from roads as they were allegedly impairment from alcohol or drugs. Of those, 13 drivers received IRS 24-hour suspensions, 14 drivers received IRS WARNS, 59 drivers received IRS FAILS, and four novice/commercial drivers were removed for IRS ZEROS. RCMP add that over the long weekend, there were 28 injury-involved collisions and five fatal collisions.
