The foreclosed Randolph County Equine and Agricultural Center in Wedowee will go up for auction on the steps of the Randolph County courthouse September 3. The USDA began foreclosure proceedings, but those were stalled by a lawsuit filed by the Randolph County Equine and Agricultural Association and its chairperson Stephanie Herren. This year the Randolph County Commission budgeted $42,000 for that payment. There has been speculation that that group will attempt to buy the Equine and Ag Center out of foreclosure, although that has not been confirmed. The Randolph County Equine and Agricultural Association originally borrowed over $2 million from the USDA in 2015 and 2018 to build the center.
