The Randolph County Sheriff’s Department will hold a memorial ceremony for fallen deputy Mark Windsor, who was killed in the line of duty on May 6, 1995. The memorial service will be at 11 a.m. at the Randolph County Detention Center in Wedowee. Following the memorial service, County Road 51, between Woodland Boulevard and County Road 82, will be officially dedicated as “Deputy Mark Windsor Memorial Drive.” Randolph County jail administrator Neil Fetner has been instrumental in organizing the tribute to Windsor and securing the signs that will mark the stretch of highway that will bear his name. Before the second unit arrived a drunk leaving the party struck the parked deputy’s patrol car in the driver’s side, killing him.
