He said the efforts of the three laid the foundations for liturgical inculturation on the continent and contributed significantly to the development of the Zairean Rite. He noted that while some Christian communities have resorted to liturgical improvisation, others have remained disconnected from their own cultural heritage. "What was once a dynamic ecclesial movement risks becoming nothing more than a memory," Cardinal Ambongo warned. To reverse the trend, the SECAM President proposed five commitments that he said should guide the future of liturgical inculturation in Africa. Cardinal Ambongo situated the congress within SECAM's Vision 2025–2050, describing it as an important milestone in the continental Church's preparation for the 2028 Ecclesial Assembly.
