The first Eagles athlete to qualify for a State Tournament event in the 2025-26 school year is the number four moment on our countdown of Top 10 sports moments from Pella Christian this past year. Coming off a Little Hawkeye Conference title, Pella Christian senior Ava Breems added to a fantastic tennis season by qualifying for the Class 1A State Singles Tennis Tournament on September 17th. Opening up the individual regional tournament hosted by Columbus Catholic as the #2 seed, Breems quickly defeated Isla Reed of Independence 6-2, 6-1 to advance to the quarterfinals. So, definitely going back to what I like to play, my style of play, and focus on being mentally tough.” Ava ultimately fell in both of her matches at the Class 1A State Singles Tournament at the Hawkeye Tennis and Recreation Center in Iowa City on October 1st.
