The House Ethics Committee announced Tuesday it will investigate allegations of domestic violence and abuse and illegal drug use against Ohio Republican Rep. Max Miller. The announcement comes after Miller wrote on X that he was asking the panel to look into him and that he has “absolutely nothing to hide.” Last week, the Democratic Women’s Caucus said Miller should be investigated by the Ethics Committee, calling the allegations “deeply disturbing.” The Ethics Committee announcement comes a day before the deadline in Ohio for Miller to be replaced on the ballot via a special election if he were to withdraw from the race. Time is running out for the committee to complete an investigation into Miller before the midterm elections in November.
