If you’ve spent years building a shelf of physical Xbox games, there’s some good news floating around: your discs might still work on the next Xbox, even as Sony walks away from PlayStation discs for good. Sony already confirmed it’s ending physical disc production for all new PlayStation games starting in January 2028. It was about letting people keep playing the physical games they already own on future hardware, possibly through an external drive rather than one built into the console itself. Nobody knows for sure if disc support survived that shakeup. For now, if you already own PlayStation discs, they’ll keep working exactly as they do today.
