NIU’s Student Athlete Academic Support Services has been recognized for organizing impactful civic initiatives for NIU student athletes and was named a top three finalist for the 2026 NACDA Community Service Award presented by the Fiesta Bowl. “It is a true joy seeing our student athletes give back to our community” senior associate athletic director Randi Napientek said. “We are proud of these student athletes for their dedication to serving others and honored to be a finalist for this prestigious award.” This past year, NIU student athletes participated in numerous programs, supporting local youth and the community. NIU student athletes taught the students various skills, gave them the opportunity to play on the court, and engage in an afternoon of fun.
