ROCHESTER — A split Rochester City Council approved a Willow Creek Trail route that could end up in court in order to cross a 36-acre property north of U.S. Highway 52.
“I have no intention of selling,” owner Pat Loomis said, adding he believes alternative routes exist to connect existing trails north and south of the highway.
To do that, the trail would cross under an existing Highway 52 bridge, south of the Loomis property.
“If there is a workable option where we can do a workaround, stick to the property line, I am definitely in favor,” he said.
In the end, Schubring, Miller, Doering and council member Patrick Keane voted to approve the recommended option to move the project forward.
