BYRON, Minn. – Byron Public Schools is closing open enrollment for grades K-12 for the year ahead in order to keep classes at a manageable size.
In 2025-26, Byron had a net inflow of 406 students through open enrollment, according to the Minnesota Department of Education.
That included 95 Byron students who were open-enrolling into other districts and 501 students from other districts open-enrolling into Byron.
ADVERTISEMENTOverall, Byron Public Schools had 2,285 students in 2025-26.
Rochester Public Schools had a net loss of 1,141 students in 2025-26, with 361 coming into the district and 1,502 leaving to attend elsewhere.
