A Bremen man was hospitalized on Thursday, July 30, after allegedly firing shots at Cullman County Sheriff’s deputies attempting to serve a warrant. According to a statement from the CCSO, deputies arrived at the residence of the suspect — later identified as 54-year-old John Johnsey — shortly after 7 a.m. Thursday morning. The statement continues to say that as deputies attempted to serve Johnsey with the warrant, he revealed a pistol and began shooting at the officers. According to court records, Johnsey was charged with harassing communications in April 2025 and had been released from custody on a $6,000 bond. The CCSO said the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency will be conducting an investigation into the officer involved shooting.
