The state of Missouri is sounding the alarm about a sudden rise in drowning deaths across the state.
State law enforcement have shared new numbers which reveal tragic outcomes for many in our waters.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol just shared a warning on their social media pages recently about a problematic increase in the number of drowning deaths they're seeing.
According to the latest data from the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the number of drownings in the state varies from year-to-year anywhere from 27 up to 61 who drowned in 2021.
Experts say that if you believe someone is drowning, you should extend an object they can reach or throw a floatation device.
