Morocco’s Weather Agency (DGM) issued an orange-level heat alert Tuesday as temperatures climbed to 47°C in parts of the country. The agency forecast highs of 44°C to 47°C from Tuesday through Thursday in the provinces of Errachidia, Taroudant, Zagora, Tata, Assa-Zag, Smara, Boujdour, Oued Ed-Dahab, and Aousserd. Temperatures of 42°C to 45°C were forecast Tuesday for Fquih Ben Salah, Beni Mellal, Settat, Kelaat Sraghna, and Marrakech. Agadir-Ida-Ou-Tanane, Essaouira, and Inezgane-Aït Melloul are expected to see highs of 39°C to 42°C, the agency said.
