The New York Mets traded relief pitcher Luke Weaver to the Pittsburgh Pirates on Monday, according to ESPN's Jorge Castillo.
Per Joel Sherman of the New York Post, the Mets will pay $2 million Weaver's contract for the rest of the season and $6 million next season.
Weaver's's change of scenery isn't a major shock, as Sammon previously reported that Weaver was expected to be pursued aggressively ahead of the trade deadline.
He has one season remaining on a two-year, $22 million contract that he signed with the Mets in Dec. 2025.
After losing three of four to the Cincinnati Reds over the weekend, Pittsburgh sits at 56-57, which puts it 3.5 games back in the wild card race.
