Kevin Durant made headlines when he compared LeBron James joining the Philadelphia 76ers this offseason to his own decision to join the Golden State Warriors ahead of the 2016-17 campaign, which drew a response from former teammate Draymond Green. Green also said he doesn't agree with the notion James joining the 76ers is the same as Durant joining the Warriors and also pushed back at Durant's opinion Philadelphia is better than that Golden State squad. The 2016-17 season was Durant's age-28 one and not that far removed from when he was the league MVP in 2013-14. That Golden State went on to reach the next three NBA Finals and win two of them following Durant's decision came as anything but a surprise. They are a contender, yes, but they are far from the overpowering force Durant's Warriors were after he joined the fold.
