The Tryon Daily Bulletin
The bipartisan House Ethics Committee has recommended censure for Rep. Chuck Edwards due to findings of inappropriate behavior and misconduct towards female staffers.
The bipartisan House Ethics Committee has recommended that the U.S. House of Representatives censure Rep. Chuck Edwards, R-N.C., following an investigation that concluded he violated House standards through inappropriate conduct toward two female staffers.
Committee investigators said testimony from other congressional aides indicated Edwards’ treatment of the two women created tension in the office.
If approved by a majority of the House, Edwards would be publicly rebuked on the House floor.
A spokesman for Edwards’ reelection campaign criticized the investigation, arguing committee staff exceeded their authority by inconsistently interpreting House rules.
