Dozens of child predator suspects—including individuals holding positions of public trust—are behind bars following a massive two-week statewide undercover operation, law enforcement officials announced Monday afternoon. The multi-agency effort, dubbed “Operation Muddy Waters,” culminated in 69 arrests across Mississippi aimed at combating child sexual exploitation. The Oxford Police Department hosted the press briefing alongside federal, state, and local law enforcement partners to outline the results of the sweep, which concluded last week. According to officials, the majority of the suspects arrested had prior child sex offense records. While the preliminary sweep has concluded, law enforcement stressed that the work is far from over.
