Carter County Schools and Elizabethton City Schools have received a combined $168,104 in state Public School Construction and Maintenance funding to support improvement projects at local schools.
The funding will be used for upgrades to the football field at Unaka High School and to resurface the deteriorated track and tennis courts at Elizabethton High School.
Administered by the Tennessee Department of Treasury, the program provides annual funding to school systems based on priority and available funding.
More than $10.5 million was awarded to Tennessee school systems during fiscal year 2025-26.
We have two projects we’re focusing on at Elizabethton High School, resurfacing the tennis courts and the track at the high school,” VanHuss said.
