Two local organizations that serve Philadelphia’s LGBTQ+ community issued warnings about an alleged fundraising scam targeting supporters. Action Wellness and the William Way LGBT Community Center reported that an individual (or potentially multiple individuals) is allegedly soliciting cash donations for Action Wellness’ AIDS Walk and/or William Way. Action Wellness provides HIV-related services throughout the region, while William Way serves as Philadelphia’s LGBTQ+ resource hub. Both Action Wellness and William Way have posted statements on their Instagram accounts addressing this behavior. Please be advised that the AIDS Walk has been retired, and no fundraising is currently being conducted on its behalf.
