East Croydon station’s closed footbridge finally set to open after 14-year wait

A long-running saga of a footbridge across East Croydon station that’s been closed to the public since it was built in 2012 may finally be heading to a resolution.
The northern side is for train passengers, and the southern half should be open to the public to use.
The public side of the footbridge was partially funded by a £6 million contribution from Croydon Council.
Although the footbridge opened in 2013, offering step-free links between the platforms and a new public entrance to the station on the western side, the rest of the footbridge and the proposed eastern entrance have remained closed.
They expect the footbridge to finally open in 2027 – just 14 years later than planned.
