How do children experience war? This exhibition has the answers

ianVisits
Sometimes literally, as a new exhibition at the Imperial War Museum looks at how war affects children and childhood, including refugees, evacuations, play, and education.
From the toys carried by children evacuated in WWII to the ones handed out to Ukrainian refugees fleeing Russia’s war of aggression.
A film of children evacuees is propaganda, selling a story of city children being sent to friendly homes in the countryside.
The exhibition language is deliberately basic, making the stories accessible to children without being so simplistic as to annoy adults.
The exhibition, Childhood in War, is at the Imperial War Museum until 28th February 2027 and is free to visit.
