A rezoning of 35 acres for the Worsham Hamlet development was unanimously approved at Monday’s supervisors meeting. The rezoning approval comes after Powhatan planning commissioners voted 3-2 to recommend denial of the request in early July. County supervisors ultimately disagreed, citing the need for new housing for younger people in the county, which has an aging population. Powhatan County is a beautiful county. “The hamlet establishes localized retail and dining alternatives, channeling discretionary spending back into Powhatan County, directly stimulating local commerce and job creation,” Easter said.
