Somerset volunteer marks 40 years with British Red Cross

Since joining the organisation on August 20, 1986, Ms Breen has served as an event first aid volunteer, event first aid tutor, adult education volunteer, group leader, council member, fundraising volunteer, and transport support volunteer.
Freddie Griffiths, oncology transport service coordinator, said: "Val's commitment to helping others over the last 40 years has been truly exceptional.
Ms Breen now volunteers with the British Red Cross Oncology Transport Service, helping cancer patients get to appointments at the Beacon Centre in Taunton and hospitals in Bristol.
The British Red Cross will honour her long service with a celebration and award presentation on Wednesday, August 12.
The event will take place at 11am at the British Red Cross’ Bradbury House in Taunton.
