Dworshak Dam water releases are gradually increasing this week, rising from approximately 8,700 cubic feet per second to 13,000 cfs by Friday. According to the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, outflows were increased to approximately 10,700 cfs last (Mon) night. Throughout the remainder of August, outflows are anticipated to fluctuate between 8,500 cfs and 13,000 cfs based on real-time conditions. These operations are designed to keep the Lower Granite tailwater temperature below approximately 68°F while ensuring the Dworshak Reservoir forebay elevation drafts no lower than 1,535 feet by the end of the month. For safety, the public is advised to use caution near riverbanks and remain alert to rapidly fluctuating river flows and water elevations on both Dworshak Reservoir and the lower Clearwater River.
