Cumberland, MD - James R. "Hippie" Evans, 79, of Cumberland, MD, passed away peacefully on July 31, 2026 at Lions Rehab Center in Cumberland. Born on May 3, 1947, Jimmy was the son of the late Charles and Zetta Evans. Jimmy is survived by his loving wife of 49 years, Peach Evans; son, Chad Evans (Mallory); son-in-law, Teddy Marvin; grandchildren, TJ Marvin, Ryan Marvin, Chaz McDermott, Derek Evans, and Elena Evans; brother, Terry Evans (Etta); sister, Janet Adams (Rusty); mother-in-law, Mary Unger; numerous nieces and nephews; and his canine companion, P(T). During his time in the Local 489, he enjoyed and made numerous lasting friendships traveling and working construction as far away as New Orleans, LA. Jimmy enjoyed cooking and barbecuing, including at the Cresaptown Eagles picnics and was the unofficial chef at Luke Paper Mill.
