SRINAGAR: A Selection Grade constable has been dismissed from the Jammu and Kashmir Police over his alleged involvement in a narcotics case in Kathua, police said on Tuesday.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Kathua Mohita Sharma dismissed Aftab Ahmed, a resident of Reasi district, following a departmental inquiry into allegations of his involvement in narcotics smuggling, a police spokesperson said.
He was subsequently placed under suspension with immediate effect on April 8 for alleged grave misconduct and indiscipline.
The SSP subsequently ordered his dismissal under Rule 335 of the JK Police Rules.
Police said the action was aimed at maintaining institutional discipline and sending a deterrent message to personnel against involvement in narcotics-related offences.
