After a public hearing in July, the Louisa County Board of Supervisors voted to pass an 18-month moratorium on data center development. The passing of the new ordinance means that the moratorium is now in place for all unincorporated areas of Louisa County. The moratorium provides county officials and board members more time to gather information on additional data center regulation. During the public hearing, county civil service commission member Randy Foor spoke about including additional protections on cryptocurrency mining operations in the county zoning ordinance. At the July 21st supervisors meeting, a public hearing was set for Ordinance 26-2, which outlines a moratorium on cryptocurrency mining projects.
