Armenia has not received any proposal to establish a migrant detention center for irregular migrants from European Union member states, and no such issue has been discussed with Yerevan, Armenian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ani Badalyan said in response to a Euronews report.
“We have not received such a proposal, and no such issue has been discussed with us,” Badalyan told Armenpress.
Euronews said several African countries are being considered as potential hosts, with Uganda described as one of the most concrete options.
The report noted that funding arrangements for the initiative remain under discussion, with the proposed centers expected to be financed by the European Union.
The Armenian Foreign Ministry, however, has categorically denied that it has received any such proposal or held discussions on the matter.
