Toronto Fire officials say a man suffered second‑degree burns and three other residents were injured after a fully involved apartment fire tore through an eighth‑floor unit early Tuesday. Division Commander John Carson said crews were called just after 3 a.m. for a fire inside a residential unit on the eighth floor of the downtown high‑rise. E‑bike batteries found compromisedCarson said four residents — two adults (male and female) and two children (ages 12 and 14) — were assessed by paramedics. The adult male suffered second‑degree burns and remains in the hospital, while the adult female and both children are expected to be discharged. Some batteries were compromised and contributed to the fire, though investigators have not confirmed whether they were the source of ignition.
