(Jessica Griffin/TNS)Texas-based medical experts are urging parents to update their children’s vaccinations amid the nationwide measles outbreak.
The United States is facing the highest number of confirmed measles cases in over 30 years, already exceeding the total number of cases in 2025.
Texas currently ranks third in the U.S. for the most measles cases just under Utah and South Carolina.
Two doses of the measles vaccine are 97% effective at avoiding the disease, according to the CDC.
DSHS data show the number of kindergarteners vaccinated with the MMR vaccine increased slightly 0.06% in the 2025-26 school year.
