An application submitted on behalf of the county council seeks to gain permission to extend the current period for another five years. The temporary unit supplies the school with three teaching classrooms, toilets and additional storage space. West Sussex County Council has committed to replace temporary classroom units with permanent buildings, which is prioritised based on the county’s asset management plan data for each school. Currently, the temporary unit at Georgian Gardens is not yet included in the replacement programme, due to it being low priority compared to the condition and age of others in the area. A statement submitted with the application said, with pupil numbers remaining consistent, the current unit is required to ‘continue to provide adequate teaching accommodation for the pupils.’
