Delays in issuing new Eircodes over a pay row could ‘seriously impede’ housing targets, Housing Minister James Browne has warned.
The staff previously worked at the mapping agency, Ordnance Survey Ireland (OSI), which was absorbed into Tailte Éireann in 2023.
Surveyors balloted for industrial action on Wednesday after Tailte Éireann recently advertised surveying roles at salaries below the agreed minimums, which sparked a backlash from unions.
In a follow-up letter, over four weeks after his original correspondence, Mr Browne told Mr Chambers that the dispute was having a ‘detrimental effect on employees’.
‘This department is, and always has been, committed to resolving the issues set out in your letter,’ Mr Chambers said.
