MORE Midlothian pupils sat National 5 and Higher exams this year as pass rates across all major qualification levels rose to their highest point in five years. The percentage of pupils achieving A-C grades improved at National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher level. National 5 pass rates rose from 73.5% in 2025 to 75.8% this year, while Higher pass rates increased from 72.6% to 74.8%. Advanced Higher results saw the largest rise, with the A-C pass rate climbing 5.2 percentage points from 68.3% to 73.5%. “It is particularly encouraging to see more pupils being presented for examinations and more pupils achieving success at National 5, Higher and Advanced Higher level.
