Department of European and Eurasian Studies deserves clear future
['Adele Doat']

In February, UT announced the consolidation of the French and Italian, Germanic Studies and Slavic and Eurasian Studies into a single department to improve administrative efficiency in the College of Liberal Arts.
As the first day of class draws near, what the newly-merged Department of European and Eurasian Studies will look like remains unclear.
Regardless of the consequences of the consolidation, students and faculty would spend less time imagining the worst if they were given clear information about what changes to expect.
“When it comes to what’s going to happen for our future, (UT doesn’t) really care to mention it,” Rollando said.
Whether the consequences are good or bad, members of the new department deserve to know what the future holds.
